Shut the Box is a classic pub game, suitable for children ages 6 and up.

This game box is made from solid oak and the tiles are made from sapele—an African wood similar to mahogany. Green felt covers the birch plywood bottom. A 1/8" steel rod securely holds the tiles in place. The lid is made of cabinet-grade plywood that slides smoothly in grooves to contain a pair of acrylic dice. Laminated instructions are glued to the underside of the sliding lid, so they never get lost.

Play this addictive game alone as a form of solitaire, or play against one or more competitors to see who can get the lowest score. Gameplay is simple: you roll the dice and flip shut the numbered tiles that match your roll or any combination of numbers that match the sum of the roll. Continue playing until no more tiles can be flipped down. The sum of the remaining tiles is your score. If you flip down all the tiles, the box is declared "shut" and that player is declared the winner.

Approximate dimensions: 8"L x 8"L x 2"H The exterior of the game box is stained and sealed with polyurethane; the tiles are unfinished and numbered with stain.
